Act immediately to protect vulnerable residents during a global pandemic
URGENT ACTION REQUIRED BEFORE OCTOBER 8, 2020:
Ontario’s Bill 184, Protecting Tenants and Strengthening Community Housing Act, 2020 received Royal Assent on July 21, 2020. MCLS has taken steps to address our concerns with this bill and the lack of protections for tenants during the pandemic.
Peel Regional Council will be meeting on October 8, 2020, to discuss the response to Bill 184. MCLS has responded by sending letters to Peel’s elected officials to ensure they are aware of these issues and to encourage them to take immediate action. The template for this letter is attached below. We strongly encourage you to use this template to reach out to your elected representatives as soon as possible (before October 8) to demand action on strengthening tenant protections during COVID-19 in Ontario.
